Mount Papandayan

Forest fires occurred in the Mount Papandayan, area of Tegal Alun, West Java, on the altitude 2500 above the sea level. At least 326 hectares of forest in the area of the volcano was burned. The fire allegedly because of carelessness climber who made the fire and throw cigarette butts carelessly.

So sad to hear the news, especially when i look back at the picture we took there 1 month before the fire.

2015 Jember Fashion Carnival

The idea for Jember Fashion Carnaval was realized by local fashion designer and educator Dynand Fariz. Initially, a world-themed fashion week known as Pekan Mode Dynand Fariz was held in 2001. In 2002, the fashion week was held around the city of Jember. This has inspired the creation of Jember Fashion Carnaval. The first Jember Fashion Carnaval was held on January 1, 2003, the same date as the founding day of Jember City. It was followed by another Jember Fashion Carnaval in August 2003. Since then the carnival is held on the month of August. (wikipedia)

This year is my 1st time to attend the annual Jember Fashion Carnival. And i was so amazed at the enthusiasm of the participants carnival. Costumes and makeup were made by the participants themselves. The cost to make the costume are not cheap and yet they keep very high spirit to participate with many different reason. Some expect to be recognised in the fashion world as designer, model, etc. Some expect can performed in International Stage. Some to get school credit and some just to boost or train their confidence. Whatever the reason, they are very enthusiastic to perform at this carnival event. 

Next year Jember will become the Host for Asia Fashion Carnival. I can't wait to see that happen, it will be great!!!
